The senior class of 2020 put on a show to remember at this year's Senior Revue! I was lucky enough to be a member of the crew of this glorious performance and got a first hand look at how it all went down. Something that I saw that was truly amazing was how in the span of one week the show went from a bunch of random songs to a full on spectacular production. It is evident that each and every person in the show, on and off stage, really worked hard and put in the hours to create this beautiful performance. The general plot of the revue was a group of Ardsley students (Charli D’Amelio being one), each a different stereotype, find out that they have a big spanish test coming up that they have to study for, while also stressing about college. Some of our Ardsley favorites, like Sunshine bagels and Ms. Spina, even made quick cameos making the revue hit even closer to home.
In between scenes of the stressed out students, other seniors in the production made sure to have a moment of spot light for themselves as they broke out into song and dance in classics like Saturday Night’s Alright by Elton John and Fight Song by Rachel Platten. We also met quite a few break out stars who proved that they’ve got some serious pipes while belting songs like Sad by Maroon 5 or God I Hate Shakespeare from Something Rotten. Even though the actors were absolutely astounding and truly made the show what it is, I feel as though it is important to recognize the hard work that the backstage crew put in as well. I was on spotlight in the back of the house, but from past experience I know how difficult and high pressure it is to be backstage in a school production. Whether it be making sure all of the microphones work correctly, helping actors change between scenes, makeup, moving sets, or being in charge of the light and sound board, the entire crew worked so incredibly hard. With a range of students from different grades, it is definitely worth taking notice of the immense necessity of and effort put in by the entire crew.
One aspect about the show that I loved was the sense of community it gave off. Living in such a small town, everyone seems to know who everyone is and it was so amazing to see people who you never thought you would see on stage belting a song or making a fool out of themselves while having the time of their lives. Including little easter eggs to various people and places in Ardsley also made me realize how tight knit our little community is and how great it is that we can enjoy so many aspects of our little town together. I think that my favorite part of the show had to be in the middle when the entire cast sang a rendition of A Million Dreams from the Greatest Showman while a slideshow of childhood photos was displayed in between them all. It was crazy seeing those photos because after seeing the same people everyday, you don’t really notice how old everyone is getting. It is insane for me to think that the kids I’ve been going to school with every single day for so many years will all be going off to college in just a matter of months. T
he 2020 Senior Revue was such a fantastic and amazing event that the seniors worked so hard for and turned out beautifully. Thank you to the class of 2020 for putting on such a spectacular show and once again bringing our community closer together!
