FUN WINTER ACTIVITIES FOR 2021 by Hadiza Mshelia

It’s that time of the year--snowflakes are falling down as the smell of hot chocolate and cookies fill your stomach. Those traditional winter activities are always fun, but what else can you do this winter? Although a global pandemic has disrupted many of our traveling plans, here are 10 worthwhile activities you can do alone or with family!

As our country continues to battle the coronavirus pandemic, many of us are staying inside this winter instead of visiting family and friends. Thankfully, there are a number of activities we can still enjoy from the comfort of our homes. One of the most popular of which is watching fun winter or Christmas movies, like Home Alone and the Polar Express--my two personal favorites. (Yes, you can still watch Christmas movies even though Christmas has passed!) Also, to make the perfect movie watching session, you can cozy up with some hot chocolate and bake some of your favorite desserts.

If movies aren’t really your thing, there are still a few options to have fun at home. One of the best ways to spend time with family indoors is having a family game night. Playing your family’s favorite game or redoing that classic family puzzle again can be a great way to bond with one another. But if you’re had enough family time after months of quarantine, you can have a relaxing spa day. Grab your face masks, put on your favorite Netflix show and light a candle and relax!

Although many of us have stayed inside this winter, others can’t resist missing their favorite snowy day activities. Many travel out to their favorite slopes to go skiing, while others will find the closest hill for some sledding. But if you’re looking to stay within your own backyard, there are a few activities you can do! Building a snowman and taking pictures of the snow are two fun and simple ways to enjoy nature just outside your home.

Whether you’re able to safely travel this winter or are staying home, hopefully this made you enjoy your winter a little more. With all of the current events going on, it is important that we take a break every once and a while and enjoy ourselves! We deserve it. Happy winter!
