TEACHERS, THANK YOU by Isabelle Kellezi

To all of our teachers here at Ardsley High School, there aren’t enough words to express our gratitude towards you, but I guess we can start by giving a great, big THANK YOU!

Teachers, you have always found ways to engage your students by creating interesting lessons, fun projects, and even participating in spontaneous TikToks -- you’re an important reason why we enjoy coming to school.

As the year goes on, we don’t think of you as just our educators, but you often become our friends. You greet us with your smiles and invite us into your classrooms for the opportunity to teach us about things that matter.

Distance learning has only made your desire to stay connected more obvious. In this time of separation your affection towards us shines through immensely. Starting every Google Meet with “How is everyone doing?” is a simple question in theory, but a strong expression of concern. It’s reassuring to know that your teacher cares that much about you to make it the first thing they want to address because that's what matters most.

Although we may not always show our appreciation, your extraordinary efforts during this strange time means so much to us. We know that you have spent many years perfecting your lesson plans and constantly tweaking parts to make them the best possible learning tools for your students. However, once COVID-19 took over, your perfected plans quickly and dramatically changed--forcing you to recraft the way you teach the curriculum. Whether your personal obstacle was showing your face on camera, listening to your voice during a video, or trying to distract your own children during a Google Meet, we understand now more than ever the dedication and passion you put into every lesson for the benefit of your students. Through your video tutorials, work guides, and encouraging messages, you have supported us in adjusting to distance learning.

Teachers, thank you for your commitment to our education. Your guidance, strength, and attention is especially important to us now. Thank you for keeping our spirits bright during these difficult times.

Most of all, thank you for continuing to be there for us throughout the years in good times and bad and knowing we can count on you to help us be champions of success.

We can’t wait to see you next in a non-virtual environment! Have an amazing and relaxing summer--you deserve it the most.
